Born in Shizuoka, Japan, in 1979
出身日本靜岡，六歲開始學鋼琴，上原廣美非常幸運地遇到她的啟蒙老師Noriko Hakita (葉木田紀子)。除了古典的技法之外，還開始接觸爵士樂以及即興演奏的訓練，十二歲開始公開演奏，十四歲遠赴東歐，和捷克愛樂管弦樂團合作演出，在這段時 間裡，上原就是一個有點能耐，也頗受期待的小音樂家。
爵士音樂家上原廣美的傳奇，在 她十七歲的時候揭開序幕，那一年，她跑到東京的山葉音樂教室，聽到山葉的老師們交頭接耳，說爵士鋼琴家Chick Corea正來到此地訪問，初生之犢的上原，不管三七二十一，衝去和偶像大師開講，Chick Corea很親切地看著這個有點冒失的日本小女生，問她會不會即興，上原 還真的毫不怯場地演奏了起來。頗感驚喜的柯利亞當場邀請上原，第二天去聽科利亞的演出，隔天，在音樂會現場的最後，Chick Corea邀請上原廣美上台，和他一起演 出！自此，在日本爵士樂圈子裡，上原逐漸有了一點知名度，這個原本讀法律的女孩，也慢慢地把音樂當成主要的事業。沒幾 年，她到美國的百科理音樂學院就讀，接觸到更多爵士、搖滾以及其他各種不同音樂型態，大幅擴展了她的視野，2003年，上原在TELARC唱片公司旗下發 行了首張專輯《Another Mind》，自此在美國、日本各地受到爵士聽眾熱烈的歡迎，波士頓音樂獎最佳爵士演出、健力士爵士音樂節最佳新人、Jazz Life雜誌金唱片獎、日本樂評人協會年度日本音樂家獎、更數次獲選為Swing Journal雜誌最佳爵士藝人/最佳專輯等，眾多獎項的肯定，讓上原廣美成為近年來最受矚目的新星。

History
Hiromi started learning classical piano at age 6. She was introduced to jazz by her piano teacher Noriko Hakita when she was 8. At age 14, she played with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. When she was 17, she met Chick Corea by chance in Tokyo, and was invited to play with him at his concert the very next day. After being a jingle writer for a few years for Japanese companies such as Nissan, she enrolled to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. There, she was mentored by Ahmad Jamal and had already signed with jazz label Telarc before her graduation.
Since her debut in 2003, Hiromi has toured the world and appeared in numerous jazz festivals.
Hiromi's Trio
Hiromi's trio initially consisted of bassist Mitch Cohn and drummer Dave DiCenso. In 2004, she recorded her second album Brain with fellow Berklee alums bassist Tony Grey and drummer Martin Valihora and has been recording and touring with them ever since.
Hiromi's Sonicbloom
On October 19, 2006, the trio added guitarist David Fiuczynski in a performance at the Jazz Factory in Louisville KY. He is also featured in the albums Time Control and Beyond Standard, and is currently touring with the group.
Instruments
Hiromi plays the Yamaha C3 grand piano and the Nord Lead 2 keyboard.
